Note the coverage and speed of data are dependent on the TMobile network coverage wherever you are, and that it will not work on AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint networks.
Out of the box this phone runs Windows Phone 8.0, and it will immediately offer a free upgrade to Windows Phone 8.1 (you'll want to be on WiFi for this!). One of the nicest apps is the pair of Here Maps and Here Drive+, which give you the full functionality of a worldwide standalone GPS (including turn-by-turn navigation) without needing a data plan (you choose and download the state maps using WiFi and they're stored in the phone). If you subscribe to a data plan with your carrier you also get real-time traffic and re-routing, but it's definitely not needed.
